Foundations

Australia

Mixed-Use Development · Architecture · Landscape · Masterplanning

Foundations is conceived as a complete environment rather than a collection of buildings. Guided by timeless architecture, landscape-first planning and disciplined execution, every decision is driven by longevity, functionality and enduring value — creating places that remain relevant long after trends have passed. Architecture is designed to frame landscape, invite natural light, and establish a lasting connection between people and place.

Concept

Exceptional developments are not measured solely by what is built, but by how they are experienced. Architecture, landscape, construction and long-term planning integrated into a single, cohesive vision.

Materials

Landscape-first masterplanning · Timeless architectural language · Natural light & framed view-lines · Considered public realm · Long-term material integrity

Wolseley House

6 Wolseley Gr, Brighton VIC 3193, Australia

Private Residence · Landscape Architecture · Construction

A composition of stone, landscape, and light, Wolseley House explores the quiet confidence of restrained architecture. Defined by mature olive trees, sculptural stone, and a carefully curated palette of natural materials, the project demonstrates how landscape can become the primary architectural language.

Concept

Restraint as architectural language. Sculptural stone, mature olive trees and a disciplined material palette compose a residence where the landscape leads and every junction is considered.

Materials

Sandstone walling · Light face brick · Spotted gum timber · Mature olive trees · Ginkgo & layered understorey planting

Classic Simplicity

12 Talbot St, Hampton VIC 3188, Australia

Private Residence · Landscape Architecture · Construction

Classic Simplicity transforms an everyday residential garden into an immersive architectural experience — a landscape of sculptural moments where every detail has been carefully considered and meticulously executed. At its heart stands a commanding hand-carved marble sculpture inspired by the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the defining narrative from which every material, proportion and sequence was orchestrated.

Concept

Every exceptional project begins with a story. Moved by the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the client sought a contemporary interpretation as the emotional and visual centrepiece of the landscape. AFW FIRM commissioned an 84-year-old master stone carver to hand carve a solid marble sculpture, transported internationally and craned into position with just two millimetres of clearance on either side — engineering precision disappearing behind architectural simplicity.

Materials

Hand-carved solid marble sculpture · Honeycomb granite monolith · Crazy paving natural stone · Premium stone pool capping · Custom timber decking · Vertical living gardens · Bespoke outdoor sauna

Canopy

6 Love St, Black Rock VIC 3193, Australia

Private Residence · Landscape Architecture · Construction

An immersive landscape-led residence where architecture is experienced through layers of vegetation, natural materials, and carefully orchestrated outdoor living. Rather than treating the landscape as a backdrop, the design establishes it as the defining architectural element — rich tropical planting, sculptural materials and a sequence of interconnected entertaining spaces creating an environment that feels simultaneously private, immersive and expansive.

Concept

A dialogue between structure and nature. Large-leaf tropical planting rises from tiered corten steel beds, softening architectural form while reinforcing a layered sense of depth.

Materials

Bluestone paving · Castlemaine slate · Tasmanian Ash timber · Corten steel · Tropical canopy planting

The Abruzzo Project

Abruzzo, Italy

Private Residence · Landscape Architecture · Construction

The Abruzzo Project is the very reason this company first originated — the catalyst for a vision of opportunity and possible futures. To turn a life around; to turn the world around. Designed and constructed with deep understanding of the surrounding landscape, transitions from hardscape to softscape are seamless. Less is more. Few elements, exercised with precision and purpose — nothing random, nothing wasted.

Concept

Less is more. Few elements exercised with precision and purpose — the Italian principle that nothing is left to waste, and nothing exists without intention.

Materials

Local limestone & dry-stone walling · Reclaimed timber beams · Aged terracotta · Native vine & olive · Infinity-edge water
