A composition of stone, landscape, and light, Wolseley House explores the quiet confidence of restrained architecture. Defined by mature olive trees, sculptural stone, and a carefully curated palette of natural materials, the project demonstrates how landscape can become the primary architectural language.

Restraint as architectural language. Sculptural stone, mature olive trees and a disciplined material palette compose a residence where the landscape leads and every junction is considered.

Classic Simplicity transforms an everyday residential garden into an immersive architectural experience — a landscape of sculptural moments where every detail has been carefully considered and meticulously executed. At its heart stands a commanding hand-carved marble sculpture inspired by the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the defining narrative from which every material, proportion and sequence was orchestrated.

Concept

Every exceptional project begins with a story. Moved by the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the client sought a contemporary interpretation as the emotional and visual centrepiece of the landscape. AFW FIRM commissioned an 84-year-old master stone carver to hand carve a solid marble sculpture, transported internationally and craned into position with just two millimetres of clearance on either side — engineering precision disappearing behind architectural simplicity.

Canopy

An immersive landscape-led residence where architecture is experienced through layers of vegetation, natural materials, and carefully orchestrated outdoor living. Rather than treating the landscape as a backdrop, the design establishes it as the defining architectural element — rich tropical planting, sculptural materials and a sequence of interconnected entertaining spaces creating an environment that feels simultaneously private, immersive and expansive.

Concept

A dialogue between structure and nature. Large-leaf tropical planting rises from tiered corten steel beds, softening architectural form while reinforcing a layered sense of depth.
